FAITH FORMATION FOR CHILDREN

Our Church believes that faith education is a lifelong journey - a way of life that begins with Baptism, and that attending weekly Mass is an important part of the children's faith journey.

Our programs aim to help the children learn and grow in their faith, that allows them to develop their own personal relationship with God.

Our Parish offers Faith Formation for Children by offering two programs called Children's Liturgy and Sacramental Preparation, which works in conjunction with each other. Our Children's Liturgy begins, 30 minutes before each Mass on the weekend, and is open to all children from kindergarten to Grade 6. Here the children learn how to form relationship with God, learn how to pray, and are introduced to Church seasons, symbols, special feast and celebrations. This is accomplished using the readings and the Gospels of the week, that the Catechists explains and discusses, with the children, in a way that is appropriate for their age group.

Children enrolled in our Sacramental Preparation program also attend the Children's Liturgy program, Children's Liturgy, gives them a strong foundation, that helps them, when they begin their journey towards receiving, Reconciliation, First Communion and/or Confirmation.

In the Sacramental Preparation program, the Children learn that the Sacraments are outward signs of our faith to remind us of God's love and grace. The children are explained the rituals, symbols, what each Sacrament gives to them, and where they were first instituted. These courses are offered at a different place and time.

Both are programs, where the children are encouraged to ask questions, and discuss with the Catechist, this better helps them understand not only their faith, but allows them to build a stronger relationship with their God. This in turn helps the children become young adults who are interested in continuing their journey of faith, in becoming active and contributing members not only to their Church community, but to the community at large.
